Our Origin
Founded in 2019 as a tribute to Daaji’s 64th birthday, Forests By Heartfulness began with a single, symbolic plantation drive of 64,000 trees across 64 cities. What started as a birthday gift quickly grew into something far greater, a full-scale reforestation movement with a bold pledge to plant 30 million native saplings across India.
Under the guidance of industry experts, forestry leaders, and IFS officers, the initiative has gone on to create a transformative impact on the ground. The journey began at Kanha Shanti Vanam, the world headquarters of Heartfulness in Hyderabad, which today stands as a thriving green haven of over 10 lakh saplings, a living, breathing ecosystem and a hub for agricultural innovation, water restoration, and biodiversity conservation.

From these roots, Forests by Heartfulness has grown into a national movement. Today, we are actively working across 12 states in India, restoring thousands of acres of degraded land through a combination of proven global nature-based solutions and innovative techniques tailored to local ecosystems. Our work spans reforestation, water conservation, agroforestry, and community-led conservation.
The scale and integrity of our work has earned recognition from the Government of India, and active collaboration with the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD), the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), and other global bodies. As developmental partners with IUCN and UNCCD, FBH continues to push the boundaries of what community-driven ecological restoration can achieve.
Vision
Our vision is to partner with global communities to nurture and conserve native and endangered tree species. By enriching biodiversity, we aim to create a cleaner, greener world and play a critical role in transitioning to a sustainable, circular bio-economy.
Mission
Our mission is to conserve India’s mega-biodiversity by planting 30 million rare, endangered, and threatened saplings by 2027. We achieve this by establishing a nationwide network of nurseries to grow highly resilient trees that can survive in hostile conditions.
Our Journey

2019 — Greening the Barren Lands of Kanha
Our journey began by transforming 1,400 barren acres in Telangana into a lush, thriving ecological sanctuary. This pioneering restoration project was honored with the 'Pride of Telangana' award and earned the Indian Green Building Council's prestigious Platinum rating, establishing a world-class benchmark for all our future greening and restoration initiatives.

2021 — Launching the Forests by Heartfulness Movement
To scale our environmental impact, we officially launched the Forests by Heartfulness movement. We set a bold national goal to plant thirty million native trees, focusing on conserving rare, endangered, and threatened species. To grow these resilient saplings, we began building a robust, nationwide network of eighteen active local nurseries.

2022 — Scaling Through Corporate Partnerships
Our ecological mission quickly gained massive momentum as we established vital partnerships with key corporate donors. We secured large-scale commitments to plant millions of trees across India. To meet this demand, our central Hyderabad nursery expanded to fifty-four acres, ensuring high-quality saplings capable of surviving in hostile local climate conditions.

2023 — Large-Scale Eco-Restoration and Community Runs
We undertook massive ecological challenges, initiating a multi-year project to restore over two thousand barren acres of degraded rocky land in Shivgarh, Madhya Pradesh. To build grassroots awareness, we launched the 'Green Run' series, directly channeling participant entry proceeds into our native and endangered tree afforestation campaigns across the country.

2024 — Technological Innovation and Massive Mobilization
This year marked a breakthrough in scientific afforestation and mass community mobilization. We implemented state-of-the-art technologies, including the world's largest deployment of Rain Guns at Taranga Hills, Gujarat. Simultaneously, we launched the 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' initiative, engaging ten thousand villagers in a single day to plant native trees.

2025 — Expanding Nurseries and Empowering Eco-Warriors
By 2025, our infrastructure reached unprecedented heights with twenty-eight active nurseries nationwide raising millions of saplings. To ensure long-term sustainability, we trained thousands of forestry personnel, local farmers, and forest guards in advanced ecological techniques like soil enrichment, biochar preparation, and tree translocation, successfully offsetting thousands of carbon dioxide tons.

2026 & Beyond — Rejuvenating Historic Water Ecosystems
Looking forward, we are pioneering a massive eco-restoration project across the historic Braj Region. By adopting ten ancient sacred Kunds in Govardhan, Gokul, Barsana, Vrindavan, and Mathura, we are combining wetland restoration with dense tree plantations and herbal gardens, transforming these cultural sites into thriving hubs of local plant biodiversity.
